LILJE, SAMMUT SPLIT SATURDAY LORAIN MAINS, SAMMUT WINS OVERALL SUPER CROWN

AMHERST, Ohio — Moe Lilje and Mark Sammut split the Twin 40-lap ISMA / MSS Supermodified features Saturday at Lorain Raceway Park.

In night two of the 2024 Super Crown Nationals for winged big block supers, Lilje drove the New York-based Soule Racing No. 32 to his first feature win of 2024 in the night’s first 40-lapper. The Ohio driver started from the pole and led wire to wire for the score by a 5-second margin over P2 starter Kyle Edwards. Otto Sitterly was P3, Mike Ordway Jr. P4 and Tyler Shullick rounded out the top five.

In the 40-lap nightcap, Mark Sammut started P5 and advanced multiple spots to score his first series win of 2024. Driving his familiar white/red No. 78, the Canadian won by a car length over a hard-charging Trent Stephens, who started 12th in the 14-car field to finish P2. Stephens would fall just short of his second win of the season after driving to victory in the ISMA / MSS opener earlier this month at Oswego Speedway.

Tyler Shullick recorded his best finish of the year in the new Bodnar chassis No. 96 with a P3 effort. Friday and Saturday fast qualifier Mike McVetta finished P4 and Ordway P5.

Sammut would claim the 2024 Lorain ISMA / MSS Super Crown Nationals championship which totaled points from the weekend’s three features. Sammut won by 38 points over Lilje with Friday’s feature winner AJ Leseicki third, Tyler Shullick fourth and Otto Sitterly fifth.
