EPPING, N.H. (Sept. 19, 2021) - The 56th Annual Star Classic started on Saturday looking to be another great one as a good field of ISMA supermodifieds began filling the pits along with many other race cars. With the more than 20 cars ready to do battle only two things could mar the building excitement. One would be competitor attrition and the other weather.
Both managed to occur. Saturday afternoon, as time trials were held, the attrition began with two cars out of the action due to motor ills and one, the 25 of Dan Bowes, taking a hard hit into the tires on pit road, doing extensive damage to the car. Then the weather reared it's ugly head just prior to the Classic 125, causing the 350 Super Classic to be delayed and pushing the Star Classic on to early Sunday morning. Only 16 of the ISMA supers were able to make the call to start the Classic, unfortunately, with Ryan Locke 37 and Danny Connors' 01 leading the way to green.
JENNERSTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 11, 2021) - Otto Sitterly continued to strengthen his lead in the ISMA points by dominating the Allied Milk Producers night at Jennerstown Speedway by winning his heat, topping the time trials and taking the 50-lap feature. While the car count was on the light side, the cars that attended were capable of putting on a great show of speed and prowess for the fans.
After the heats, a draw was held to see how many cars were to be inverted to start the feature. This put Ben Seitz and Dan Connors Jr up front with Sitterly, Johnny Benson, Mike Lichty and Mike Ordway Jr. at the rear.
OSWEGO, N.Y. (July 31, 2021) – The King of Wings event for winged supermodifieds began at Oswego Speedway in 2009 and Saturday night it was resurrected with Canadian Mike Lichty taking his third victory out of the ten events run over the years. Lichty commented in victory lane after his win that he “wasn't a fan of starting up front because it took a longer run to get up front and checked out”. He thanked Patco Transportation, Craig Reed, Level Motors, and all of his crew, in victory lane as he donned the coveted KOW crown and cape.
CLAREMONT, N.H. (August 20, 2021) - The ISMA supermodifieds had never raced at Claremont Speedway prior to Friday night, but it was evident that the track would be a good one for the winged speedsters. Chris Perley sat on the outside of row one for the feature and immediately claimed the lead with Dan Bowes, Jon McKennedy, Ben Seitz and Otto Sitterly chasing the Rowley Rocket for the first third of the 75 lapper.
Not unexpectedly McKennedy, who has been the man to beat of late in the New England area, moved up swiftly to challenge Perley as he was behind the 11 by lap 22 and swooped by him a lap later.
SANDUSKY, Ohio (July 24, 2021) - LaGrange, Ohio’s Mike McVetta ran a USAC Silver Crown at Winchester Speedway’s Rich Vogler Memorial on Thursday night prior to the Sandusky weekend, and skipped participating in the Fast 40 on Friday night. On Saturday, however, the 22 was ready to race. He would start 4th in the feature lineup which was set from Time Trials, after heat races were cancelled due to ominous weather.
Lee, N.H. - Otto Sitterly drove his John Nicotra Racing No. 7 to his first ISMA Supermodified Series win of 2021 Friday night at Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire. Sitterly, who extended his points lead with the victory, won the Ollie Silva Memorial 75-lapper over Ben Seitz in the Howie Lane No. 97 and Sandusky Fast Friday winner Jeff Abold in his family-owned No. 05. Moe Lilje in the Dan Soule No. 32 and Mike Ordway Jr. in the Clyde Booth No. 61 rounded out the top five.
SANDUSKY, Ohio (July 23, 2021) – Jeff Abold of Pennellville, N.Y., came close to winning the 2020 Hy-Miler 100 last year but fell short. Friday night Trent Stephens and Abold started front row in the Fast Forty feature and began a battle for the top spot. But moving quickly into the duel up front was Timmy Jedrzejek in the Lane Racing 9 and Chris Perley, a four-time Hy-Miler and two-time Fast Forty winner.
